Introduction

Around the world, many people wear kanji tattoos that are incorrect in meaning, poorly written, or are imitations lacking true tradition. My approach is different.
By working with sumi, washi, and classical forms (kyūjitai), I create designs that carry cultural dignity. What you wear on your skin should be more than decoration—it should be both beautiful and authentic.

The Tattoo Flow – Step by Step

Counseling Session

We begin with a personal counseling session, guided by a simple sheet. This is where you share your name, your story, your values, and any words or ideas you are drawn to.
You don’t need to know kanji or Japanese phrases—I will listen carefully and propose meaningful possibilities that match your story. Together, we shape the word that will become your one-of-a-kind design.

Concept Design

From our counseling session, I refine the ideas and propose possible directions. Together, we decide on the exact word to be brushed—whether it becomes a single kanji, an ateji for your name, a four-character idiom, or another meaningful phrase. This step transforms your story into a clear concept. Once the word is chosen, I move on to the brushing stage.

Calligraphy Brushing

The chosen word is brushed in different traditional styles (for example, semi-cursive, cursive, clerical script). Using sumi ink and authentic washi paper, following the traditions of Japanese calligraphy, I create three variations so you can compare and feel the difference. You then select the one that resonates most with you.

Delivery

The selected work is digitized and prepared as high-resolution, tattoo-ready design files. You will receive them in multiple formats: .ai, .pdf, and .png (with transparent background), ready to share seamlessly with tattoo artists anywhere in the world.
If you wish, the original brushed piece can also be mounted, framed, and delivered worldwide as an optional upgrade.

Why This Matters

Authenticity: Too many kanji tattoos around the world are nothing more than typed-out fonts or copied symbols with no sense of tradition. Some even end up with nonsense words—like “refrigerator.” My work is different—each design is brushed with sumi ink on washi, following centuries-old calligraphy traditions and using classical forms (kyūjitai) that preserve the depth of the language.
Personalization: Generic designs or random kanji pulled from the internet don’t reflect who you are. Your tattoo should be unique. That’s why I create a one-of-a-kind piece based on your own story, values, and identity.
Cultural Dignity: Wearing kanji without context often leads to awkward or even wrong meanings. What you wear through my work is not an imitation, but an authentic artwork rooted in Japanese tradition—something you can be proud of, carrying both beauty and meaning.
And unlike mass-produced templates, you may also choose to receive the original brushed calligraphy itself, mounted and framed, as a lasting piece of art.
